Frequently asked Questions

Customs duties are compulsory fees charged to the state budget in the manner and amount specified by this Code for the transportation of goods across the customs border of the Republic of Armenia.

Individuals are obliged to pay customs duty when the value of goods for personal use sent to the customs territory by international postal parcels exceeds the amount equivalent to 200 euros or 31 kg.

According to the current regulations:

  • if the cargo for personal use exceeds the permissible monetary threshold, the customs fee is charged in the amount of 15% of the difference between the value of the cargo and the permissible threshold.
  • if the cargo for personal use exceeds the permissible weight, the customs duty is calculated in the amount of 15% of the value of the cargo or with a limit of 2 euros for each excess kilogram.

The lists of prohibited items for export are defined by the RA and US customs services.

The main recommended groups of products that are not allowed to be imported into the US are:

  • Tobacco and tobacco products
  • Alcohol
  • Medicines
  • Precious metals: gold, silver, platinum, etc
  • Meat products and any kind of fresh food
  • Dried greens
  • Any type of plant
  • Liquid
  • Documents (our company does not export)

Product groups banned from export by Armenia:

  • Munitions
  • Weapons and main parts of firearms /firearms, gas, throwing, signal, pneumatic, cold weapons/
  • Electric shock batteries and detonators
  • Dangerous substances / narcotics, psychoactive, radioactive, explosive, toxic, flammable and others/,
  • Poisonous animals and plants
  • Monetary characters and currency of the Republic of Armenia (except for those sent by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and its branches),
  • Perishable food
  • Items that by their nature or packaging can harm postal workers, contaminate other postal items and postal equipment.

Bulk weight is a calculation used in the shipping industry to determine the weight of a package based on its dimensions rather than its actual weight. This method is used because the package can take up more space on the plane, especially if the package is large but light.

The formula for calculating volumetric weight in centimeters is:

Divide the product of all sides of the package (width, length, height) by 6000.

If the received value exceeds the actual weight, the freight is calculated by volumetric weight.

Volumetric weight is calculated for air delivery.

2020 From January 1, goods for personal use can be imported into the EAEU territory by the carrier or by international postal parcels from non-member states of the EAEU customs territory without payment of customs duties and taxes, if their value does not exceed the AMD equivalent of 200 euros, and their weight does not exceed 31 kilograms.

Yes, cargo insurance compensates for damages to property during transport by rail, air, land, or sea. Generally, it covers loss, damage, or destruction of cargo caused by:

  • Fire or explosion
  • Natural disasters
  • in the event of an accident with a vehicle, collision or overturning, sinking, etc., in an unplanned place, unloading under special conditions,
  • in an unplanned place, unloading under special conditions.
